Hi everyone!
I am in a program called Big Brothers Big Sisters, and today is my last meeting with my little. I was matched with a sixth grader named Sierra, and she is a very sweet little thing. She is also really into horses and things like that, so we always have plenty to talk about. Today we are going to attend "Mighty Milers" aka little tiny children running as far as they can without stopping! I am very sad that this is our last meeting because we have been "sisters" for 2 years now. Before Sierra, I was matched with a first grade boy who was quite wild. I felt very accomplished when I would leave our meetings without a black eye. If you're having trouble imagining this, just think of a young wild indian child. I will admit him and I had lots of fun, but I was just really relieved when I my match up was reevaluated. Hopfully when I come home from college I can pay her a visit or two!

Almost The End
I am just really ready for May 31 to get here. I am having some serious problems finding motivation within myself. School... well I'm just sort of over it. However, I have watched a few of my classmates catch a case of senioritis long before myself... so it could be worse.
Summer is literally just around the corner, and I only have to wake up for GHS 14 more times... I mean, who wouldn't be pumped?
On the bright side, I am really excited inside because my golf team's sister golf team from Memphis is coming to hang out this weekend! We are going to see Pat Green and have a really fabulous weekend and a big giant sleepover. Once again, who wouldn't be pumped?
Have a great weekend everyone!

School
Well State Golf was sort of not what we expected, but hey we went to Austin. And we were classy.
School is becoming REALLY crazy. Yesterday we took the AP Calculus test, and lemme just tell ya about it. It was truly terrible. Bad I tell you, bad. I hope I made a 2. Seriously. It is also becoming more and more apparent to me that yes, I am going to college soon. It's just craziness. I am possibly a tiny bit sad... but mainly thrilled! All these years and it's finally here. Plus, I was just accepted to the Texas Tech Honors College! Do you know what that means? Okay, I will tell you. I get to move into the suites! No more bisexual atheist roomie for this girl!Yep, you could say things are really looking up. (Knock on wood!)
Well that's about all I know... I hope everyone has an awesome week!

Regional Week
Well, here we are. Hot on the trails of the Regional Week. On Sunday my golf team and I will be launching off at 7 AM to drive to Lubbock for our practice round. On Monday and Tuesday we will play in the Regional tournament. Then, the other seniors and I will stay in Lubbock with my grandma all week. We are going to do lots of awesome things such as shop, watch our dear pal Kartsen at the Regional Tennis Tournament, have accounting practice, and get our nails done.
Then, Friday = Go Time. Regional UIL is on Friday and my accounting team and I are gonna get after it. There is a whole slew of kids who advanced to Regional UIL and I am very pumped because I have never been to Regional UIL before.
Needless to say, it is going to have a buy week, and I hope everyone has a great one!

District Golf & UIL
I'm sure everyone will be thrilled to know that our UIL Accounting team was super successful and we will be moving on to compete at Regionals! Yay! We are all super pumped, especially those of us who have not gotten to go to Regional UIL before. It was a wonderful birthday present, and all in all a wonderful 18th birthday!
On another note, District Golf is finally here! Tomorrow is the day! I am getting SO nervous too! And I have no idea why? I know we will do great but I just haven't been playing up to my standards, and I guess it is stressing me out.
Today I did a little math, and I only have to wake up for high school 34 more times! Now if that isn't absolutely crazy to think about, I just don't know what is. Seems like just yesterday I was a freshman. Seriously, it's a lot to take in.
Well I need to go fill out some more scholarships, so everyone have a rockin week!

UIL
Long time no talk everyone! A few things have happened, but not too many! Golf has finally started, and we have won our first two tournaments of the year. Yay! We have another tournament on Saturday, but unfortunately it looks as if it will be snowing around that time... so we will see! I am getting very excited to see what the season holds.
UIL competition week has shown up and I can hardly even believe it. It seems like just yesterday our accounting coach was making sure we all knew we only had 8 weeks until contest, and now, here we are!! Things have been kicked into serious preparation mode. We have been practicing practicing practicing so let me just tell y'all I am SO ready for our hard work to pay off. The actual contest is on Friday, and I can't say I'm too crushed about not being at school on my 18th birthday. I'm going to be a grown up... yeah that's a weird thought.
Well anywho, I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

2013 Blizzard
Hello again everyone! SorryI didn't blog last week... I was very busy preparing myself for an extremely important UIL contest... Accounting! Let me just say, we are going to be a very succesful team.
Anyways, this week has really been something! We can all say that we were a part of the 2013 Blizzard. When I say we had a blizzard, I mean we had a straight running blizzard. It snowed around 14 inches and the entire time it was snowing the wind was blowing... big time. I was very concerned about my precious little calves that were being born during the snow...but everything seems to have turned out okay. After all of that snow, school was cancelled on Monday and Tuesday, yay! It seems like everytime we about get the snow cleared up around this little town Mother Nature strikes again. But I'm not complaining, I don't have a problem with late school starts. :)
In case anyone is wondering, prom was fabulous, and Tierra, thankfully, was booted off the bachelor! It was about time.
Well... that's about all I know, have a lovely week everyone!

Tierrable.
This week has been extremely boring and extremely slow. I have been writing essays, doing calculus, and trying to get everything lined up for college. It's the story of my life.
On another note, if anyone out there watches the Bachelor... I am angry. I am appalled. And I am disgusted. For those of you who are unaware, there is the girl on the show named Tierra... and she is truly tierrable. She is a psycho crazy woman and if Sean picks her... I may scream. she shows up on other people's dates uninvited, she is rude as all get out to the other girls... and she has calls Sean "her husband." She is just not a nice girl. On one episode she flung herself down the stairs for attention. On the most recent episode, all of the girls jumped into some extremely cold water... Who goes into hypothermia and has to be carried off and visited by the ambulance? That's right... leave it to Tierrable. Also, I am awfully sad that Sarah was sent home... she's the sweetest little thing. Same for Selma... they were both just so lovely... and then he lets Tierra stick around?! What an idiot. She. Is. Nuts. She's nuts! She smirks at the camera when Sean is not looking and is a mastermind manipulator. They may just keep her around for publicity... but I swear if she wins...
Hopefully on Monday Sean will pull himself together and realize that he has a crazy on his hands... but only time will tell!

Busy Busy Busy
It's finally Friday! The past two weeks have been slam packed. There are all sorts of things happening around here. All of us seniors are trying to get everything ready for college, which seems to be reapidly approaching. The stockshowers, band members, and UIL competitors are all preparing for prime time. Also, prom is in the air! And when February 28 rolls around, golf will be in full swing! The new softball and baseball teams also seem to be getting in the swing of things. The spring time is just a mad house sometimes...
If anyone is wondering how seeing George went, I was sitting on the front row when he left, and he shook my hand and said "Thank you so much, honey!" WHAT A NIGHT! That was pretty much the highlight of the year. And let me just tell you, that Martina McBride...WHEW! She.can. SING. I also made friends with the Vice Chancellor of Tech and her family, maybe that will come in handy when I am going to school there! As of the roommate situation, it looks as if I will be toughing it out.
Well, I hope everyone's two weeks were just as wonderful as mine. Happy Friday Everybody! Have a great Superbowl Sunday, too!

George! My Future Husband!
Thank goodness it's Friday! This has been such a long week. This is probably because I have been DYING for tonight to come. Tonight, I get to go see George Straight, my future husband, kick off his final tour! I have been to see George before, but I am still just as excited as ever. I am a huge fan! Huge. This is probably going to week the best week off the year for me. Words just can't explain how happy I am to have this opputunity.
So this week I finally got my dorm at Texas Tech. I was all excited because my room is exactly where I wanted, and it was kind of a freak thing that I snagged this room, but I probably should have known there would be a catch. I communicated with my rommate, and she happens to be a bisexual atheist. No offense to anyone out there, but those characteristics just aren't really anything I can relate to! But she is a very nice girl so I'm sure everything will be fine. I just wasn't quite expecting that.
Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful week! I'll be back on Friday!

Well today is a little more interesting than usual. Not much, but a little. Today, every senior (that remembered) brought their pictures to school for our senior video! We have spent two entire class periods looking at each other's pictures over and over again. We have all laughed multiple times, and many forgotten stories have resurfaced. I think we are all starting to realize that we are all going to be graduating in about four short months. Then, before we know it, it'll be time for us kids to pack up and roll on out of this little town. It's very very crazy for me to think about, in fact I don't really believe it yet. But here we are, putting our senior slide show together. Other than that and our school lockdown drill, things have been pretty dull around here lately. Hopefully next week I will have something more eventful to share.
Have a great week everyone!

Hello Everyone!
Hello everyone, and welcome to my first blogging experience! There is really no telling what you might find in this blog. Maybe my latest craft, or baking accomplishment... or maybe just a story that I think you might find interesting.
Today I thought I would give a little information about my background. My name is Maggie Key I am a senior at Gruver High School. I actually started my last semester of high school yesterday! After lots of contemplation I have decided to attend Texas Tech University, however I am totally clueless about what I am going to study. As you will soon find out, I enjoy a wide variety of things, all the way from arts and crafts to hunting. In the Spring, I will be busy busy busy with school work and golf. Golf is my favorite sport and I cannot wait for the season to start up and for the weather to warm up! I have two younger brothers and many cousins who are more like sisters.
I. Love. The holidays!
For Christmas we had no choice but to stick around this thrilling town while my dad managed the cotton gin that did not finish up until the day after Christmas. Of course! On the 28th we took off to our cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico. We decided to ski one day but all of the snow was man-made. There was a small amount of excitment when my mother and I were playing Ruzzle (a word game) on out iphones and my 15 year old brother casually mentioned all of the smoke in the living room. Mom and I looked up to realize that someone had left a plastic spoon on the stove burner. I'm pretty sure my dad came running into the house faster than he can ski. My dad's best friend just bought the cabin next door to us. There were 5 college boys over there who were more than pumped when they realized that our other neighbors, Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker, were actually home for once! They were in full force stocking mode and considered many possible options for meeting Brooklyn. Unfortunately trick or treating and baking "Welcome to the neighborhood" cookies were both shot down by one of the mothers.
I hope everyone had a break as wonderful as mine, and I will be back on Friday!
